Coldwater Creek Dress & Skirt (Sewing-It-Forward)

This week’s Sewing-It-Forward outfit was created from a lovely red 100% cotton Coldwater Creek dress.

The original dress was a great base for a refashion project. The beautiful shade of red and soft stretch cotton lent itself well to create a cute T-shirt style dress using the top portion. I took it in a little at the waist and adjusted the size to fit a true medium. I created a mini skirt with the remaining 16 inches of fabric from the bottom of the dress. I used my Tashenka skirt portion pattern and inserted a 1″ elastic into the waist creating this cute miniskirt. I felt the original dress was lacking shape which I believe I fixed by curving the waist line of my T-shirt dress and by adding an elastic waist band to my miniskirt.
